Role of the Chair
As at November 2018
The post of Chair is required by the Constitution, and the incumbent chairs the Committee of the Andover U3A. The current Chair is David Gollings, email address: chair@andoveru3a.co.uk
The Chair's role includes the following activities:
Chair the meetings of the Andover U3A Committee.
Chair the Annual General Meeting of the Andover U3A.
Chair the monthly meetings of the Andover U3A:
Welcome members.
Make announcements as required.
Introduce and thank the speaker.
Contribute some introductory words to the twice yearly Andover U3A newsletter.
Ensure that new Committee members are clear about their Committee duties and understand and accept their position as Trustees of the Andover U3A.
As appropriate, represent Andover U3A at Regional or National U3A meetings and to other organisations.
Answer questions posed by members of the U3A in consultation with the Committee, as appropriate.
Respond to enquiries from members of the public, in consultation with the Committee as appropriate.
